Anti tobacco rally in Pasighat

Capacity building training begins

Union demands job reservation in Railway
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: All Arunachal Section Division North Frontier Railway Construction Loading and Unloading Sramik Union (AASDNF Rly Const, L&ULSU) demanded job reservation for APST candidates in Railways as per the state government norms.
The Union in a release informed that it has submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister demanding reservation in Group ‘C” and “D” posts in the Railway for Arunachalee candidates in the ratio of 80:20.
It urged the union minister to include one member from the union in the Railways Board (Arunachal Pradesh Branch) and make registration of coolies and labourers of Railway with the union mandatory.
The union further urged for awarding any works of Railway that is less than Rs one crore to the union.
Longe Ratan dies at 45
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Longe Ratan, Mondal/Organizing General Secretary of 38 East Pasighat died today at Dirang, West Kameng district.
He left behind his wife and seven children.
Born in 1970 at Damro village, he was the son of Pontem Ratan and Kayang Ratan.

Revoke transfer order
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: In a representation to the state Education Secretary, the Tamin Elite Society (TAM) has today appealed him to revoke the transfer order of Chetam BEO under Upper Subansiri and various teachers to other districts stating that there is a deficit of over 200 teachers in the district.
Alleging that the transfer of the said BEO is politically motivated, the Society said that the BEO has been unjustly transferred to Tawang as Trained Graduate Teacher on the ground that there is shortage of teachers there which it termed as false and further urged the Education Secretary not to transfer the officer.

The mortal remains will be taken to Dibrugarh on Friday morning for medical formalities before being taken to respective home towns by Indian Air Force as requested by the state government.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh J.P. Rajkhowa has led the state in mourning the untimely demise of Kamlesh Joshi, Capt. MS Brar and Capt Rajeev Hoskote.
“I am in extreme shock and grief over this enormous tragedy. It is an unbearable loss for the people and the State of Arunachal Pradesh”, the governor said.
“I have come to know that the young IAS officer, Late Kamlesh Joshi was a very sincere, competent, talented and dedicated officer and had contributed immensely towards development of Arunachal Pradesh. I am also given to understand that, the two daring pilots, Capt MS Brar and Capt Rajeev Hoskote were highly committed to their duties and were always ready to serve the needy people, even in inhospitable and far flung areas of this State. In their sudden death, the State has lost greatly which cannot be compensated by human efforts. Their contributions and attachment to the people of this hilly State will always be remembered and written boldly in the history of Arunachal Pradesh, the statement added.”
In a separate message Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said that “People of Arunachal Pradesh will always remain grateful to the three departed souls who served the state to their fullest in their respective capacities,”. In a message to the wife of Late Joshi, Tuki wrote, “Late Kamlesh Kumar Joshi will always be remembered for his zest to deliver his best in the service of Arunachal Pradesh and its people as a member of the elite cadre of Indian Administrative Services. He was one of the freshest officers in the state with fresh and innovative ideas that became the hallmark of his administrative eloquence in all the places he served. His loss has closed a chapter of dedicated service of an administrator par excellence not only for Arunachal Pradesh but for the country.”
The Chief Minister also conveyed his condolences to the family members of the two pilots – Captain M S Brar and Captain Rajeev Hoskote – and put on record their dedicated service to the people of the state by offering transportation to and fro in difficult circumstances putting their own safety at risk.
Govenor calls for high level enquiry into chopper crashes in state
ITANAGAR: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh J.P. Rajkhowa has expressed deep concern at recurrence of accidents in the state involving Pawan Hans Helicopter, a central government undertaking and has called for High Level Inquiry.
A message from Raj Bhavan stated that High Level Inquiry needs to be instituted under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, preferably headed by a High Court Judge, at the earliest in order to unearth the causes of the accident to fix responsibilities, if any, and to recommend corrective measures, which should be taken under a time frame, to prevent such tragic accidents in future.
The Governor further opined that although nothing can compensate the loss of those precious lives, the State and Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited (PHHL) as also the Central Government should extend adequate relief and compensation to the bereaved families beside extending all possible help for transportation of the bodies to their respective hometowns for the last rites.
Meanwhile, there has been no comment so far from the Ministry of Civil Aviation that oversees the Pawan Han Limited operations.

Stating that many Tibetan and Bhutanese nationals are availing licenses and certificates by showing fake documents which are otherwise meant for the local people only and misguide the government, Likha Takar appealed the government officials to verify the persons before issuing such documents since it adversely impacts the rights of the indigenous people. Expressing concern over the state government’s decision to issue ST certificates to Lisu and Yobin tribes, he said that it could pose a threat to the indigenous tribes of the state especially, in Changlang district because both the said tribes are settled at Miao and Vijoynagar near the Myanmar border are now starting to illegally migrate into the state after hearing the government’s decision.
While urging the state government to initiate strict measures to check such alleged illegal migrants by alerting the Assam Rifle at various check posts, he further requested the government to identify and prepare a census of Lisu and Yobin tribes who have been settled in state since many years, to avoid future problems.

A biopic on Anshu in the offing
ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Carbon Creative Motion Pictures Ltd (CCMPL) has decided to make a biographical film on ace mountaineer of the state Anshu Jamsenpa, stated Director of the company Anil Kumar Siddhu in a meeting in Garware Club House Mumbai on Saturday.
Prof. Raja Sekhar, Utpal Bhattacharjya and Nand Kishore (Nandu) are working on the script. The format, cast, location and the scale of the proposed biopic will be finalized soon and is projected to be made in several languages simultaneously, Siddhu said.
CS Challam from CCMPL further stated that their company will go all out in making the biopic a grand success and that the whole world should know both the tough and humane side of Anshu.
Anshu also met actor Arjun Rampal and his wife Mehr Jesia, former Miss India in their Bandra Bungalow which was also attended by Arunachal Mountaineering and Allied Sports Association (AMASA) President Tsering Wange and Chairperson of Fountainhead Institution Meghana Musunuri.

More burden on state exchequer
The government of Arunachal has surprised everyone with the decision to appoint four new parliamentary secretaries. It looks like a political decision as all the newly appointed parliamentary secretaries are former PPA MLAs who joined Congress in December last year. The appointment comes at a time when state is struggling for the fund. In all probability these appointment will further burdened the state exchequer.
Also state government should have shown some sensitivity towards victim of chopper
incident. Even before their body was retrieved the swearing in ceremony was organized.
Truly speaking the appointment of parliamentary secretaries in no way aids the developmental

Establish polytechnic
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to inform that a centrally funded polytechnic was sanctioned in 2010. A new polytechnic was proposed to be established in Upper Subansiri District. As per the norms, the proposed polytechnic was to be established at about 10 km radius of the district HQ. Therefore, Karda (Sippi) which is located at 9 km from Daporijo town was chosen as best suitable location for establishment of a polytechnic. The public have already voluntarily donated the required amount of land for construction of the said institution at Karda (Sippi).
Earlier, in this connection, a team comprising the ZPMs including Togam Leriak of Giba, Tako Mosi of Chetam and Tayom Mothu of Daporijo along with all the land donors met Minister of Home Tanga Byaling and submitted a representation for early establishment of polytechnic. Later, the delegation submitted a rough sketch map, land donor consent letter to the Director Higher and Technical education months ago.
The Director Higher and Technical Education has assured that an expert team would be sent to the proposed site for land feasibility study and assess the proposed site. But since then nothing have been done so far.
Due to delay in the process of implementation of the polytechnic, many bright students, especially those belong to economically weaker section of the society, are facing hardship.
Since Karda (Sippi) is located at the confluence of many administrative units like Taliha, Daporijo, Chetam, Giba and Gusar circles etc, establishment of a polytechnic college at earliest would benefit lots of the students of this area in particular and district as a whole.
